Hustle

This is the best view I’ve ever seen of New York City. I got to enjoy it earlier this year for about 30 seconds before being ushered out because evidently, I don’t know what “sophisticated cocktail attire” is. Still don’t. I convinced the hostess at Nubeluz, the bar with this view, to let me take a quick glimpse inside. The view almost puts you in a trance, feeling like you’re engulfed by the city. I tried to reflect this feeling in the painting, using different techniques to encapsulate the viewer. I love New York City, but in my eyes, it’s all one big hustle.
